What is art therapy? 🎨
Art therapy is a powerful, evidence-based therapy approach that helps individuals express thoughts, feelings, and experiences that can be hard to put into words. Through creative processes like drawing, painting, and other forms of art-making, survivors can explore emotions and build coping skills to begin to heal in a safe, supportive space.
At Bridging Hope, art therapy isn’t about being “good” at art, it’s about giving yourself permission to process and reflect. 🩵

We’re so excited to welcome our new contract educators to the Bridging Hope team for the upcoming 2026–2027 school year! We are grateful you’ve joined this mission and can’t wait to see the positive impact you’ll make in the lives of kids in our community.
We also want to extend our deepest appreciation to our incredible educators who continue to lead this work year after year. Because of you, students in middle and high schools across five of our six counties are gaining critical, evidence-based, and age-appropriate knowledge: how to set boundaries, understand healthy vs. unhealthy relationships, recognize warning signs of abuse and trafficking, support a friend in need, and more.
Your work is powerful, compassionate, and truly life-changing. You are helping shape safer, more informed futures for young people every single day. Thank you for showing up, speaking up, and making a difference. 💙
Happy Birthday, Elizabeth! 🎉
We are so grateful to celebrate Elizabeth Johnson, our incredible Outreach Advocate. Elizabeth plays a vital role in coordinating community outreach and ensuring that Bridging Hope remains deeply rooted and engaged within our community.
Her calm, kind, and genuinely funny nature brings so much light to our team each day. She has a way of making everyone feel at ease while also uplifting those around her with her warmth and compassion.
Elizabeth, thank you for the heart, dedication, and joy you bring to this work. We are so lucky to have you at Bridging Hope. 💙

As we celebrate the semiquincentennial, we honor 250 years of resilience, progress, and the enduring promise of freedom, liberty, and justice for all. 🇺🇸
At Bridging Hope, we recognize that this promise is ongoing, and one that calls us to stand with survivors, amplify voices, and create a future where safety, dignity, and healing are accessible to everyone.
Today, we celebrate how far we’ve come and recommit to the work still ahead in the next 250. ❤️🤍💙

Through bilateral stimulation, such as following a clinician’s fingers or a light bar that moves side to side, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based trauma modality that helps the brain reprocess distressing memories so they feel less overwhelming and more “in the past” rather than re-experienced in the present.
It doesn’t erase what happened, but it can reduce the emotional intensity and the body’s stress response tied to those memories, allowing healing and relief to feel more possible.
At Bridging Hope, several of our therapists utilize EMDR to support survivors in processing trauma at their own pace. Many people find it helpful for trauma, anxiety, panic, and other experiences where the nervous system feels stuck in survival mode.
Healing isn’t about forgetting. It’s about helping your brain finally store the memory in a way that no longer overwhelms your present.
July is Social Wellness Month 💬✨
At Bridging Hope, we’re recognizing the power of connection in healing. Social wellness (our ability to build meaningful relationships and feel supported) is a vital part of trauma recovery.
Throughout the month, we’ll be sharing tips, resources, and gentle reminders to help you strengthen your connections and care for your well-being. You are not alone, and healing happens in community. 💛
